Canoeing Safety Tips and Information

How do I train my shoulders for the specific motion of paddling out and into waves? I know general shoulder exercises, however I can do them all winter and feel completely unprepared come spring. Without out paying for one of those machines, does anyone know advanced techniques?

a good one is to go out on flat days and sit on your knees, keeping yourself balanced on the center of your board. then paddle with long strides going along the coast. your shoulders and triceps will kill

Havent got a heater.

Have a young relative coming round this afternoon to play in the pool. I went in yesterday and it was freezing. Need a quick way to heat it up which doesnt involve me going out and buying something.
its a 2500 litre pool

Here is the fastest way to heat up a small pool:

1. Cover it. This will let the sun heat up the water and keep the heat in there. Cheap and quick solution - Use black trash bags. Cut them open and lay them flat on the water.

2. Add hot water. Connect a hose to your water heater and open the valve to add hot water direct to the pool. When the water runs cool, stop and wait two hours for the water heater to warm back up and repeat.

I saw a cycle with two foreigners paddling at Haridwar. I assume they brought with them from their country. It might be light weight and can be disassembled/ assembled easily. The cycle had small carrier even.

Huck is planning to betray Jim (which he believes is his moral duty to do) but as he is paddling ashore Jim says:

Naturally this makes Huck feels bad, nad makes him change his mind about betraying Jim.

Ok I keep getting phone calls and text messages saying I’m gunna get "Initiated" and I dont know what to do. Like the seniors always paddle new freshmen and Im afraid. i dont know what to do. i keep hearing that im gunna get paddled. what should i do?

obviously fight back. With words preferably, I don’t endorse violence :D. Tell them not to touch you. I don’t know why anybody lets themselves get all worked up by the upper class-men. Last year I was a freshman, and everybody looked like they were walking on water when talking to the seniors. But some of them were my best friends. I don’t get intimidated by older kids, or let them push me around because of "seniority". One of the seniors told me to "get out" of the computer room, and I was like there is no need to be so rude about it. So I didn’t leave until she asked me politely. If you want respect, you’ve got to give it.

How would you say the pain of the paddle compares to that of a switch or belt? I’ve felt both the switch and belt but never the paddle. Which one hurts worse?

I have just put up a paddling pool for the baby in the garden and wondered how i keep it clean/ ready to use without emptying it and re filling it all the time.

Put a tarpaulin cover over it !

I was watching the dog whisperer and there was this dog called ’storm’. It was a big black dog that wouldn’t eat food in order to fix this, Ceaser exercised the dog a lot, including in a big hard plastic swimming pool. This swimming pool is ideal for my dogs, unlike these new blow-up ones as they break in my garden which has concrete floor. It needs to be kind of big because one of my dogs is quite large. Where can I find one!!!

I don’t think you are referring to a plastic kiddy pool- you’re looking for an above-ground large pool where the dog can actually swim around, right? If so, companies that sell other types of above-ground human pools will have what you are looking for.
