I’m not sure if this is the one you’re looking for. I know your description doesn’t match other rafting movies, including "The River Wild", as that has parents and their son running across two criminals, one of them played by Kevin Bacon. Years before, Bacon terrorized a group of river-rafting boys in "White Water Summer".

Im going to go river rafting and hiking in the mountains with NOLS but i need a camera that can handle it all. something water proof for the rafting but also something with good quality images and videos for when hiking. Im not looking for a 1,000$ camera but something good that’s not too expensive in case it gets lost in the river or mountains.

I need it to be both video and picture camera so please help.

Olympus Tough 8000 can be dropped from 6 feet without damage, waterproof to 33 feet. Alternatively the Tough 6000 may be good, but I don’t know the specifics.

Would like to go whitewater rafting while the weather is still warm. Are there good places in NJ, or will I have to go out to PA?

you will have to go to Pa or NY at this time of the year and the fact that its so late in the season and there is no more ice melt or snow run off in the mountains, it may still be quite difficult to find something close to NJ. There are plenty of rafting places in PA, but white water will be your difficulty.

There are parts of the river which are really flat. What are some good ways to occupy our time. I’m looking for some fun games drinking or otherwise.

If they are really flat, you will probably be paddling most of the time. One game that’s fun is to have someone stand on the bow of the boat and hold themselves on with the bow rope. They will stick out at an angle. Everyone works to spin the boat as hard as they can so the person flies into the water.

I found some stuff online, but the companies running the tours always make their river sound like the best, of course. I’d like some personal opinions on anything from 1 to 5, good quiet canoeing to rushing rapids, anywhere in the country.

I have some friends who have been to Coruh and had fabulous time.
And i have been to Saklikent near Kas and made body rafting it was great:) of course you want to learn about the normal rafting so i would say Coruh.
There is also Dalaman River.
